How we're different

At Mott MacDonald we know where we’re going as a company and how we’re going to get there. Our vision for the organisation we want to be shapes our values, directs our decision-making and lies at the heart of all our business planning – from global Group-level strategy to local team-level plans.

At the same time our freedom as an employee-owned company to drive our own future also gives us the flexibility to seize appropriate opportunities as they arise and the strength to be different from the rest when we believe that’s in the best interests of our people and our customers.

We’re independent and employee-owned

This means we’re in business for long-term prosperity not short-term gain, so we have a more strategic outlook coupled with a stronger people focus and flexible approach. It also means we’re not driven by outside interests but are accountable to our own people – the Group Board answers to a formal Shareholders’ Committee which has an important role in controlling fundamental issues in the management of the Group’s business.

Being employee-owned we are also charged with being responsible custodians of the company for future generations – a sense of duty that is an intrinsic part of our culture. More than one in ten employees around the world are now shareholders and we’re progressively increasing the opportunities for staff ownership year on year across the Group by embracing a wider range of employee roles and responsibilities.

Our huge skills range is hard to beat

The immense and constantly growing scope of our business demands a huge variety of expertise which we’re able to provide in house. Adding to our capabilities in mainstream technical and managerial disciplines, we’re skilled in hundreds of specialist fields – just the very briefest of cross-sections includes areas as diverse as ergonomics, telematics, corporate sustainability, information management, organisational reform, marine ecology, landscape architecture… and the list keeps growing month by month.

We’re constantly adding new services

Our customers never stand still so neither do we. By staying closely attuned to their needs and aspirations we seek to keep ahead of the game, proactively identifying new service requirements and gearing up to meet them. Across all our market sectors we achieve this through a combination of targeted recruitment and strategic acquisition or partnership, all aligned to the goals set out in our strategic plan.

In more and more areas of our business we’re working in totally integrated, co-located teams with our customers and partners in both public and private sectors.
