At Baglan Bay in Wales we’ve provided engineering design, procurement, installation, commissioning and project management services for a 275kV connection between a new CCGT and CHP power station and the UK National Grid, including the 275kV GIS substation and the HV supply to a nearby industrial parkElectricity transmission and distribution is key to a vibrant economy and at Mott MacDonald we have all the skills needed to develop new and manage existing networks.

We have the full range of skills in overhead lines, underground cables and substations and apply these world-wide at all voltages up to the highest in common use including high voltage DC. We also have one of Europe’s largest power systems analysis teams, which undertakes the planning and performance prediction of major utility transmission and distribution systems and industrial distribution.

Using an analytical risk based approach we provide a compre-hensive power system service to our customers to assess the con-dition of their assets and determine cost effective risk based refur-bishment solutionsA major issue with power net-works in the developed world is that systems installed in the 1950s, 60s and 70s now require major rehabilitation to continue to provide reliable service. Hav-ing developed special expertise in this area we’re able to apply unique tools to under-stand and predict asset condition such that work can be planned and under-taken cost-effectively without risking network performance.
