Road
In our road management role for the UK’s Highways
Agency we’ve been working with Balfour Beatty Infrastructure
Services (formally RCS) in a fully integrated team for eight years
– our joint remit now covers much of southern England’s strategic
road networkAt Mott MacDonald we have a comprehensive
under-standing of the highways sector that encapsulates all its
economic, social and environmental dimensions as well as design and
construction. This is built on a portfolio ranging from planning, designing and implementing new roads to maintaining, managing, improving and operating existing highway networks – services we've delivered for a variety of clients in a range of locations as diverse as Hong Kong and remote parts of Bangladesh.
Driving our commitment to provide best value for our clients is a culture of innovation and research and development. We constantly strive to improve what we do and how we do it, actively seeking fresh solutions for our customers and ourselves. We're at the forefront in new methods of procurement including the UK Highways Agency’s Early Contractor Involvement initiative and partnering with both the public and private sectors – an approach which has revolutionised maintenance in particular and liberated ideas on best practice and value engineering to the benefit of all parties.
These credentials combined with expertise in aspects ranging from state-of-the-art traffic control systems and high performance surfacings to route optimisation and environmental appraisal mean we're ideally equipped to serve the whole spectrum of highway development and management. Our portfolio of services includes:
- planning
- design and construction
- infrastructure maintenance and management
- traffic management
- environmental services
- control systems
- pavement engineering
- bridge assessment and strengthening
- tunnelling services
- project finance
Protecting society and the environment is another crucial focus and at Mott MacDonald we have over 100 environmental specialists and a highly specialist health consultancy team able to assess the social impact of transboundary developments and worker migration. We give the highest priority to environmental and sustainability issues and make sure that measures to address these are included right from day one and enhanced throughout the development process. A key element of this is the environ-mental assessment required for all transport proposals which looks at every aspect of a development, especially those of particular public concern such as traffic noise.
