Urban development

Cromer promenade (Image courtesy of D Atfield) We were the landscape architect for North Norfolk District Council’s £6.1 million enhancement programme which refurbished Cromer Pier and Pier Pavilion Theatre, regenerated the promenade and created a museumDelivering successful and sustained urban regeneration in line with current government aspirations and policy requires a comprehensive, multi-disciplined approach and a major commitment of skills and resources.

At Mott MacDonald we’re engaged in all aspects of the regeneration process from transport, energy, water and the environment to building, industry, communications, master-planning and project management, health and education infrastructure, we are ideally placed to provide the full range of professional and project implementation skills for major urban regeneration projects.

We understand the challenges faced in urban regeneration at all levels of society, particularly resolving the potential conflicts in the formation of national policies while embracing social diversity at regional and local levels. We have played an active part in reviewing and commenting upon national policy and the formation of guidance on the impact of a change of policy changes to both local government and corporate business.

We work closely in partnership with local authorities, developers, local communities and conservation bodies to plan and implement schemes designed to add value for investors and users alike. We’ve worked with many of the leading architects, master-planners and urban designers in the urban regeneration field and are thus well able to establish or fit into our customer’s team. Our customers range from large public sector organisations and private/public partnerships to multi-national corporations or individual private developers.

Urban regeneration projects require an understanding of local issues, environment and communities. Our extensive geograph-ical network – including offices located throughout the UK – means we can offer a locally based service while also drawing on the strong technical support of our national and international resources.
